Earthships The Perfect Recycled Off-Grid Sustainable Home

Earthships, off grid sustainable homes made from repurposed “junk”, and turned into amazing homes in the New Mexico desert. These are off grid homes made from natural and recycled, upcycled, repurposed materials that would have been thrown in a landfill to pollute the earth. Instead, Mike Reynolds, a visionary architect and life -long off grid eco-home-building-activist, has changed the face of earth-friendly building by inventing a new kind of 100% self sufficient building called an Earthship. EarthShip – Wikipedia definition: “An Earthship is a style of architecture developed in the late 20th century to early 21st century by architect Michael Reynolds. Earthships are designed to behave as passive solarearth shelters made of both natural and upcycled materials such as earth-packed tires. Earthships may feature a variety of amenities and aesthetics, and are designed to withstand the extreme temperatures of a desert, managing to stay close to 70 °F (21 °C) regardless of outside weather conditions. Earthship communities were originally built in the desert of northern New Mexico, near the Rio Grande, and the style has spread to small pockets of communities around the globe, in some cases in spite of legal opposition to its construction and adoption. Reynolds developed the Earthship design after moving to New Mexico and completing his degree in architecture, intending them to be “off-the-grid-ready” homes, with minimal reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. They are constructed to use available natural resources, especially energy from the sun and rain water. They are designed with thermal mass construction and natural cross-ventilation to regulate indoor temperature, and the designs are intentionally uncomplicated and mainly single-story, so that people with little building knowledge can construct them.”  Earthships make great off grid homes! Earthships are the epitomes of recycling and sustainable living off grid. Made from old used tires, bottles, cans, and other repurposed materials, along with natural clay dirt, sand rock and wood, Earthships combine all these elements into one cohesive dwelling for living off grid. It produces it’s water, food, the thick sand/dirt packed tire walls create a large thermal mass which stores heat/cold energy for later use. Earthships are built to be completely sustainable homes. ***

StarLink Satellite High Speed Internet Saving Lives in Ukraine

Ukraine leaders, while their county is under invasion from Russia, requested StarLink highspeed internet to be implemented and Elon Musk came through by answering the call. Now not only is the StarLink internet system active in Ukraine, all the hardware has been shipped to Ukraine is is operational! Why is this important? What does this have to do with off grid living? Everything! During an invasion from another country people still have internet communications available to help them communicate with their people during a full scale invasion from a foreign power. StarLink has proven itself the off grid internet of choice when it come to a grid-down, worst-case survival scenario. UPDATE: “Ukraine’s vice prime minister thanked the company for a shipment of Starlink antennas amid Russia’s invasion: “Starlink keeps our cities connected and emergency services saving lives!” – SpaceFlightNow.com – SpaceX preps for another Starlink launch as internet terminals arrive in Ukraine UPDATE: More Starlink satellites on the way! “SpaceX wheeled a Falcon 9 rocket and 47 internet satellites to a launch pad Wednesday at Kennedy Space Center, ready to blast off Thursday to reinforce the Starlink constellation days after expanding the network into Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of the country. The launch, set for 9:35 a.m. EST (1435 GMT) Thursday, will take off from pad 39A at Kennedy, continuing SpaceX’s busy start to the year. It will be SpaceX’s ninth mission since Jan. 1, and the 10th launch from Florida’s Space Coast this year, coming less than two days after the liftoff of a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket.” You can’t get much more “worst-case” survival situation than an invasion of your country by a foreign power, short of a nuclear war. (which we will talk about in a future article; read our article about EMP attack and whether you need to prepare for it or not) “Musk said on Saturday that Starlink is available in Ukraine and SpaceX is sending more terminals to the country, whose internet has been disrupted due to the Russian invasion.” Reuters –Ukraine gets Starlink internet terminals – and friendly warning about safety Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, minister of digital transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov asked Musk via Twitter (during a Russian invasion) to help provide internet services to Ukraine. Musk obliged! Starlink Satellite internet terminals, sent by Elon Musk, arrive in Ukraine. A Foreign Invasion of Your Country & You Still Have Internet Communications! An invasion of your country, short of nuclear war, is probably one of the worst-case-scenarios you can possibly think of. And StarLink is there. Many parts of the country the internet and services are down and communication is key to survival in this survival scenario. This is the kind of grid-down survival scenario that preppers and survivalists all over the world prepare for on a daily basis. WAR! An invasion by a foreign power. And literally now Ukraine has internet communications. You can’t get better service than that. If StarLink works for this scenario it will work in just
