How one man built an off grid cabin using giant logs in the Russian wilderness. This is one of those quintessential off grid cabins you look at a drool over, wishing you could live in something like it. You can! Watch this video and you’ll see, it’s not as difficult to build as you might think. He also doesn’t cut down any green trees. Rather he uses fallen large trees and cuts them into manageable and moveable sizes to build his cabin. He has an entire series of 8 videos on his playlist on Youtube showing the entire build from start to finish here.
Build a cabin of this quality and strength (to make it bear-proof) takes knowledge, skill, and lots of patience. It also takes a lot of hard work and discipline that a lot of people may find difficult to maintain for the long periods of time it takes to build such a log cabin.
Here’s quick 10 minute video showing him moving the logs around, and his basic building process. I love how detail oriented he is and how he moves such heavy and large logs by himself. It is a dangerous job, but he manages it very well. Watch the video below.

There are a lot of FAKE off gridders and people who pretend to love the off grid lifestyle, but you know when you find someone who’s got a passion for the off grid life when you witness someone like this young man building a cabin most of us only dream of building one day.
This is truly an inspiring and wonderful cabin build.
This is what off grid living is about.

My posting of this cabin has ZERO to do with the politics and land war going on. War is hell, and it’s not something I support unless one has a damn good reason for it. Like defending your country. That said, I can look past the political BS attached to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and see the normal every day people and their dreams of freedom are not unlike our own. I can see the human side of the situation and this cabin build, regardless of the politics of the war currently going on, shows the human spirit of freedom and THAT is what this article is about. Off grid living, freedom and independence. We (Americans) declared our independence 240+ years ago and we fought a bl**dy and long war for our freedom. We will never forget that. But regardless of your opinion, worldview, political opinions, or belief systems, this cabin build is inspiring. I see a man who built a cabin by himself in the wilderness and he did a damn good job of it.
