Rebuilding the World Off the Grid

How Off-Grid Communities Are Restoring Trust, Humanity, and Freedom

Just a little wisdom for the day: Took me a long time to figure out why so many people are so selfish. Then I realized that not being selfish means being generous and giving. And to selfish people “giving” means “losing”. That’s why they never give and instead take. They’re takers because they are terrified of losing. They believe taking is winning, and that makes them the biggest losers in the world. They’re literally losers because they’re afraid of losing if they give. But they’re all wrong because giving is in itself a great reward for those that give freely without expectation of anything in return. This is a concept lost on those selfish people and they’ll never get it until they change how they look at the world and their fellow human beings. It’s about trust. You must trust that good is more powerful than bad. That the good in humanity outweighs the bad. It’s hard. It takes courage to trust. It’s easier to take than give. It’s harder to trust than it is to be selfish. It’s a survival instinct, leftover from tens of thousands of years of harsh survival environments and primal instincts. It takes a conscious mind and effort to realize it, recognize it, and move past it. To consciously decide to change your mindset and focus on what it means to be human. To me being human is about giving, helping others, teaching, educating, doing things for folks in need. Selfish people are simply afraid. They’re ruled by their fear of losing so they refuse to give. Do you know the most important reason why we should all give? Not just to help folks, that’s a given. It’s because that’s our purpose as human beings. It’s our greatest and most sacred purpose in life to help one another. Though I’m not religious, this phrase “what would Jesus do?” always comes to mind when I think of these things. Gandhi’s teachings on compassion and empathy too. Buddha. Confucius. Plato. Socrates. Aurelius. Pick your guru. Pick your philosophy. They all have the same basic message of purpose. To love one another. To be good. To help one another. To build a better world. But that message gets lost in the fear and noise of a selfish, greedy, corrupt system, a monetary society that conditions its citizens to work for it instead of themselves and their own families and people. Instead of working for each other we’re forced to work for a system that would use us, exploit us, pay us low wages, charge us outrageously greedy high prices for all the things we need to live, and when we’re old and worn out, used up, and too unhealthy to work for it anymore, the system which is run by selfish people betrays us, turns on us, steals our retirement, takes our livelihood and leaves us with nothing. Because the system is rigged it’s run by the selfish greedy people of the world. This is what we’re seeing today. The culmination of decades of greed and corruption by selfish people who own everything we need to survive and live. We could all be thriving in abundance but artificial scarcity owns the world’s most important resources. Meanwhile, the top 1% most selfish people in the world own and control the world we live in. We know this. We see it. And we’re all trying to do our best to survive. It’s why we’re all trying to go off grid. We see the writing in the wall. We all know deep down that this level of selfishness isn’t sustainable and eventually it will fail. When it does then what? Well we don’t have to wait for it to fail. That’s why we’re doing something about it. That’s why we’re all going off grid. It’s why we’re becoming less dependent on the system because we know it’s not working. So we leave it. You don’t need to fight or wage war or revolt or even vote. Simply walk away and build your own life, your own homestead, your own community, for you and your family and friends colleagues and coworkers. We do that by helping one another. By giving. By trusting. By being good and doing good. We must trust each other enough to take the next steps into the future for our children and theirs. For all future generations. For humanity. Giving is better than taking. This is what I believe wholehearted is our sole purpose in life. To help one another. That’s how we make the world a better place, to build it for everyone. We’re all in this together. This thing we call life. That I believe is the greatest, most sacred part of humanity itself. I believe this to the core of my being. My soul is filled with love for humanity and the great good we’re capable of. We have a choice. Be good or be evil. I choose good. I choose love, compassion, empathy and charity for all of humanity. It’s why I started this group. To help folks achieve their off grid dreams. It’s now the largest off grid community in the world. I believe there’s a reason for that. I believe there’s a deeply rooted core message that resonates powerfully with millions and billions of people all around the world who are struggling to live in this selfish greedy corrupt system we find ourselves in. It’s not just about off grid living and survival. It’s about living and surviving in this world and we’re all looking for a way to make our lives better for ourselves and our families. It’s human nature. But it goes much deeper than that. We’re here. We exist. We make our own purpose. Our purpose is not selfish, it’s giving. Our purpose is not greedy, it’s generous. Our purpose is not corrupt, it’s compassionate. When we have and show empathy and compassion for our fellow human beings it sets an example for others. It builds trust. It will take time for humanity to grow and mature. We’re getting there. Some people mature faster than others. Some are more caring and compassionate than others. But eventually people will see the abundance in the lives of the compassionate and charity driven families and communities living free and independent, happy and healthy lives, not dependent on a system that takes from you and never gives back. We’re not perfect. No system is perfect. There is no such thing as perfect. And while there’s also no such thing as a utopia, I believe as humanity matures and we grow to understand more about each other we’ll begin to see how giving is better than taking, and more people will give than take. The world is built on this “give and take” system, and there’s a paradigm shift happening now that is changing the world and how we live in it, interact with it, and learn. We know deep down that helping people is the best way to build a better world, one person, one family, one community at a time. We’re all human. We’re all part of the same tribe. We’re all flawed and though no one will ever be perfect, we can help each other not be selfish. We can all help each other build better lives and communities. So build it! Do it! Build a better system. Build your own system. Make your own, grow your own, build your own, but not just for you, build it for everyone. The best way to change a system isn’t to try to change the current system, it’s to build a better system that makes the old one obsolete. You have the power to build a better world by helping those around you, and they help those around them, and before you know it we’re all living in an abundant world. That all comes from loving and giving. The gurus got it right. We just need to do it.

There’s my wisdom for the day. Hope you enjoyed the read. Sorry about all the repetition, it’s an annoying little quirk of mine, I know, but if you get it you get it. If you know you know. Thank you for reading if you’ve read this far. I appreciate you and wish you well on your off grid journey.

If you enjoy my writing and my ideas, content and you want to help out, please feel free to help out by signing up for my off grid magazine and/or donating to the cause to help support the mission to help folks go off grid and achieve their off grid dreams.

If you believe in the mission, want to help and can help, awesome if not that’s cool too.
Just know I appreciate your help. For those that know my situation and care enough to help, thank you.
